Mythbusters

At the Center for Performing Arts, NVIDIA wanted to show to the audience the difference between CPUs and GPUs and they assigned the Mythbusters to come up with a really cool demonstration. Adam Savage And Jamie Hyneman came up with two robots, the first was called Smiley and represented the CPU and the latter called Mona Lisa and represented a GPU.

Smilay drew a smiley and because it was based on CPU it did the things one at a time. Here comes the cool part as Mona Lisa was made of a 2100 massively parallel barrel processors. The Mona Lisa had the task to draw a Mona Lisa picture and it had done it in three quarters of a second making the audience to cheer and applause.

I guess that everybody understands now how much better is the GPU than the CPU. Just watch the video and you’ll see what I mean.
