Osram is one of the largest lighting manufacturers in the world as “light from Osram shines in about 150 countries.” Osram designs and manufactures lamps and lighting systems for more than 100 years, and lately, they had shown that they encourage greener technologies therefore they are trying to develop better lighting systems.
Last year Osram unveiled an OLED system capable of yielding 46 lumens per watt. The company has chosen OLED lighting because OLEDs can be more efficient, brighter, and greener than conventional light bulbs.

This year, in collaboration with BASF, world’s leading chemical company, Osram has achieved two milestones in OLED lighting development as they managed to design an OLED which is able to achieve 60 lm/W. The second milestone is that this efficiency meets the International Energy Star SSL Standard for color requirements.
Even if there were other companies who achieved better efficiencies, the OLED lighting system from Osram is the first that retains its white color at various levels of intensity. As Osram managed such improvements in less than one year, we expect them to release an OLED system really soon as they are trying to achieve a 100 lm/W efficiency
