Here is a cellphone concept which is made of wood unlike other so-called wooden phones that are made of special plastics because those are greener and are easy to manufacture. It’s called Maple Phone and it was designed by Hyun Jin Yoon and Eun Hak Lee.

The Maple Phone will be as functional as regular cellphones as it features calling, texting, MP3 player and a digital camera. Also, it will feature touch sensitive buttons that will appear as soon as you touch the phone. As you may see, this handset is a slider and the LCD will pop-up from the back when you are sliding the cellphone.

Maple measures 4.5×10.4×9.8 cm and it will feel very nice thanks to the soft wood. We can only hope that it will enter on the market really soon and that our pockets won’t be hurt.

Motorola should buy the rights and produce the SPLNTR. Does it void the warranty if you knock on wood?
